Parasite — It’s an experience.
I watched this movie with slightly lower expectations as any Oscar winner may not entertain you as much as a simple blockbuster would do.
But this movie proved me wrong. Though it’s aim is to show the class divide, the movie never misses to entertain you and keep you at the edge of your seat. It tells you a random story but you’ll end up thinking about how you treat the world and how the world treats you depending on which class you belong to. In this movie Park — the rich and Kim — the poor. Though it deals with a sensitive subject, the movie is plain and simple which is a reason why it’s celebrated by everyone.
After a few minutes into the movie, once Kim’s family started entering the big house, you feel like you are a spy camera set on the house and you get to observe every detail closely. It’s an immersive experience. The background music flows like a wild river that invokes the right emotions.
It’s a well-made movie. Right from showing the semi-basement house to Park’s luxury villa, and the scenes set inside the car, the shots are pretty natural and gives you no distraction. Every frame tells you something.
Dialogues are the building blocks of this movie without which it’d be just a usual drama. Even a casual conversation among family members hides a deep meaning.
They are rich but still nice. They are nice because they are rich.
This particular scene just starts with a random conversation but it slowly builds the stage for Kim to bring one more person into the house without being suspected.
The movie has <10 characters which include the big house, smell and semi-basement. Yes, “Smell” is a character in this movie. It creates a larger conflict than any human would do. Commendable performances by the whole cast.
The climax apparently contains a lot more than I noticed. Several subtexts were missed out in translation. There was a song during credits that explain the actual climax of this movie.
Watch any explainer video from YoutTube if you watched this movie with subtitles for a greater understanding of its realistic climax.
This movie is a great piece of art and a cinematic experience. Must watch for everyone.
Respect!
